yarn pron and a pair of monkeys

lornas laces on sale

IMG_0421Got the Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn online at a shop that was having a major closing sale. The owner substituted a few colors and I love them. I think the green one is my fave.

Also finished my Monkeys. They were easy to knit - I'm sure I'll be starting another pair soon. Maybe some mini-monkeys like Cara's.

Need an airplane project or two... we're going to Spain in September!

I think I'll probably start a chevron scarf using the green and brown Lorna's Laces. The colors are "envy" and "chocolate." Chocolate Envy - love it - yum.

...and we have a winner!

in town bag flowers open

Whoopee! I won something in an online contest! No... not a bizillion pounds from the British lottery... but a real prize from a real person! I was checking out U-handblog and noticed that Lisa was having an Amy Butler Pattern Contest... so I submitted a picture of one of the bags I had made and I won a prize! I got to choose a new pattern - I chose the Frenchy Bag pattern.

Also I just ordered some amazing Alexander Girard / Donghia fabric the other day from Design Diva Fabrics... maybe I'll use it for the Frenchy bag! I tried to find a picture to post but I think it sold out b/c it was so amazing and deeply discounted.

In other news, I have really not been into the blog lately... I'm not the kind of person who just puts EVERYTHING out there on the blog... details of my worklife, homelife, etc... I don't think the 5 people out there who look at my blog are interested in every little thing about my life... Also since I got onto Ravelry, I've been posting my knitting stuff there, not here. I guess I could do both but it seems redundant... So Ravelry is a pretty cool site. If you haven't already put your name on the invite list, you should definitely do it now b/c it takes a  while to get in.

published!

So the secret project is the "trash bag tote" for knit.1 magazine's summer issue! I designed and knit this trash bag tote - Joel helped me cut all the "yarn" - and attached store-bought handles. It was fun but it hurt my hands. How cool is it that my tote is next to Vickie Howell's tote - my design is published right next to a famous TV knitter's design! Yay!

I am an Art Star! Visit me at the Bazaar!

ASCB_07_corace_image Hooray! I've been accepted to be a vendor at the Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philadelphia!

We will be located at booth #63 on Germantown Avenue.

This year's event will take place June 2nd and 3rd along The Liberties Walk and Germantown Avenue. If you're in the area, or feel like taking a drive, please come visit me and Joel and support independent designers! I can't wait - it will be really fun.

And if that were not enough, I will be participating in a local NYC show on June 5th at the 3form NY showroom. The event will feature jewelry designs by seven local architects and designers. As soon as I have the save-the-date I'll send out a mini-P1UON-newsletter.

Oh yeah... I'm going to be published! I can't tell you exactly what the knit item is, or what knitting magazine it'll be in, but it's in the upcoming summer issue that goes on sale May 15th, and it's photographed on a background of lemons. I've got another secret knitting project that I'm submitting to the same magazine for an upcoming fall issue.

cookie in totoro hat

cookie in totoro hat This is my friend Alicia's baby in the hat I gave for the baby shower. It's the "top down bonnet w/ anime character" pattern from Hello Yarn.

Her name is Ella but her nickname is "Cookie." She's super-cute and even has her own blog!

In other news, my favorite online consignment shop is closing. Tara is closing Plain Mabel after three and a half years. I so appreciate Tara's support and feel lucky to have had items in her shop for pretty much the whole time! Go check out Plain Mabel to see what's left in the big closing sale.

new scoot - vroom vroom!

vespa I'd like to introduce you to our new scoot! 2003 Vespa ET2 - very low mileage - purchased used (and a bit beat up) from craigslist. Can't wait to get it registered and take a ride! It's got a bit more power than the Honda scoot. Vroom Vroom!

The police said that it's likely that our old scoot was stolen and sold for parts. Apparently it happens a lot w/ scooters that are not Vespas b/c all the messengers and food delivery drivers drive cheaper scoots. Isn't that sad?
